Suffolk County Department of Labor to Host 3 Career-Development Workshops

The Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs will host three career-development workshops in September to educate residents about opportunities in new fields of work.

Career Quest workshops will start at 9:30 a.m. and run for approximately two hours. They will be held at the Suffolk County One-stop Employment Center at 725 Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge.

“These workshops represent a gold opportunity for people looking to change careers or get started in the workforce,” Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said. “We encourage everyone in the market for a new and better career to take advantage of the information available at these sessions.”

On Sep. 9, Kensington Company representative Stuart Levenberg will present information on franchising opportunities and successful franchise career development and will cover topics like how to find a franchise and how to finance a new business.

On Sep. 10, a representative from Suffolk County Community College will present information on careers in the heating and cooling (HVAC) industry. Work opportunities in HVAC include air quality, heating systems, refrigeration, industrial cooling and in manufacturing technology such as precision metal work and computer numeric control.

On Sep. 11, a representative of the Suffolk County Department of Civil Service will outline information on available careers in civil service and how to apply for examinations.

Advance registration is required. To register, call (631) 853-6600. For the latest Suffolk County news, pictures, videos and event information, visit the County Executive’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
