NYC Ballet Principal Dancer Teaching Master Class At JCC

Daniel Ulbricht will teach a holiday ballet class at the JCC of Mid-Westchester's Dance School.

NYC Ballet Principal Dancer Teaching Master Class At JCC

NYC Ballet principal dancer Daniel Ulbricht will teach a ballet Master Class, with pianist Miles Fusco, at the JCC Dance School. Ulbricht will teach on Friday, December 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Each year during the holiday season, the Dance School of the JCC of Mid-Westchester offers master classes taught by a professional in the field of dance. The classes are geared to intermediate or advanced ballet dancers.  This will be Ulbricht’s third year teaching the JCC’s Holiday Master Class.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Ulbricht began his dance training at the age of 11. At age 16, he was invited by the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, to continue his training. In 2000, he became an apprentice with New York City Ballet and a year later, he joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet.

In 2005, Ulbricht was promoted to the rank of soloist; he has been a principal dancer since 2007. Currently, he is the Artistic Advisor of Manhattan Youth Ballet, serves as a consultant to a number of schools, and is a guest teacher at the School of American Ballet, Ballet Academy East, as well as teaching at a number of well-known national dance schools, private schools and universities throughout the United States.

The JCC Dance School, one of Westchester’s most respected dance programs, provides all levels of training by professional faculty for pre-school, teen and adult dancers. Classes include ballet, pointe, hip-hop, tap, Argentine tango, Zumba and Israeli folk. Most ballet classes feature live musical accompaniment. Many JCC Dance School students have gone on to careers with professional dance companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, New York City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Carolina Ballet and the Norwegian National Ballet.

This special program is sponsored in part by the Grueskin Family Dance Education Fund. Class fee is $30. Space is limited; pre-register at JCC Front Desk.  For information, contact: Jayne Santoro, Director, JCC Dance School (914) 472-3300, x320.
