Paulin: Amendments Filed For Animal Shelter Bill

Legislation on-hold for further review.

Paulin: Amendments Filed For Animal Shelter Bill

Assemblywoman , D-88th, said today that amendments to bill the bill have been filed in the Assembly in Albany and that the legislation is on hold pending additional review.

The bill, which Paulin said seeks to protect animals in shelters, has been the subject of fierce discussion over the past month. Paulin said she has reviewed all of the communication she received on the bill, both positive and negative, and used these public comments to improve the bill.

“This bill is a work in progress,” said Paulin. “We have listened to the criticisms of the bill and have incorporated them into several proposed amendments. We will not be moving the bill forward at this time, since we would like to further evaluate the best legislative solutions to the concerns raised and continue to discuss this bill with concerned citizens, advocates and animal rights' organizations. We will continue to work with all interested parties to draft the best bill possible to protect animals.”

Paulin's district includes Scarsdale, Pelham, Eastchester, part of White Plains and part of New Rochelle.
