A Hastings on Hudson man allegedly had a bit too much to drink and crashed his car into a telephone pole in Scarsdale on November 23.
Scarsdale Police said the driver, Zachary E. Simon, 28, was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI, 1.8 or greater; and driving while intoxicated (1st offense.)
According to the Scarsdale Police report, a passerby noticed "a car in the middle of Fox Meadow Road by a light."
Police canvassed the area and found the driver-less car at Walworth and Fenimore Road, blocking southbound traffic. The car had struck a telephone pole at 3 Walworth, according to the SPD report.
Police found the driver walking back to his car. He told police that he "left the scene of the accident to walk to SPD headquarters to report that he had crashed his vehicle."
Police said the driver had slurred speech and failed two field sobriety tests. SPD arrested Simon and booked him at headquarters. His blood alcohol content was at .19%–which is .11% over the legal limit, SPD stated in the report.
He was processed and released on $100 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 28.
