Taxi Van Bursts Into Flames On Highway: Cops

SHIRLEY, NY — A taxi van burst into flames on the highway in Shirley Monday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the incident took place at 1 p.m. on the William Floyd Parkway, near Moriches Middle Island Road.

The driver of the van and a passenger were unharmed, police confirmed.

Both SCPD and the Ridge Fire Department rushed to the scene, police said.

The fire led to the closure of southbound lanes, police said.
