Driver Hospitalized After Car Fire
The car burst into flames after the driver crashed into a tree on Wednesday afternoon.
SMITHTOWN, NY - One person was hospitalized after their car burst into flames in Smithtown on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Smithtown Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the fire on 341 Landing Avenue at the corner of Clark Street at about 4:19 p.m.
The car fire broke out after the driver struck a tree.

The driver of the car was able to self-extricate and eventually transported to a local hospital.
The car was fully engulfed in flames, and a small brush fire also started as a result of the crash.

Both the car and brush fire were under control by 4:56 p.m. No other injuries were reported.
Shortly after this fire was reported, the Smithtown Fire Department responded to a second car fire in Hauppauge reported at 4:53 p.m. on Wednesday.
