Smithtown still at nearly 2,500 outages, while St, James drops to around 1,000.

Power Outages at Nearly 9,500 Prior to Nor'Easter

With a nor'easter expected to hit Wednesday just one week after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the Town of Smithtown, power outages throughout the town are down to 9,493 homes.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, in Smithtown, St. James, Nesconset, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue, there are 5,027 outages. 

Here is a breakdown of what areas are missing power:

  • Smithtown – 2,438
  • St. James – 961
  • Nesconset – 594
  • Village of the Branch – 13
  • Head of the Harbor – 616
  • Nissequogue – 405

Patch reported Wednesday that the  National Weather Service  issued a High Wind Warning for Nassau and Suffolk counties from 1 p.m. to Thursday 4 a.m. with the possibility of winds from the north at 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
