Different Faiths Share Space in Smithtown

After selling their facility, Temple Beth Sholom will share a space with First Presbyterian Church.

Different Faiths Share Space in Smithtown

In an effort to sustain the congregation after selling Temple Beth Sholom, Cantor Judy Merrick reached out to First Presbyterian Church to ask if they could share a space to hold religious services.

According to a report in Newsday, the church was quick to share their space, which they already lend to a group of Korean Presbyterians.

Merrick hopes to draw in more worshippers at the new location. First Presbyterian’s pastor, Rev. James Hulsey, doesn’t plan on charging Merrick for the first three months in order to first determine if the Temple has enough support from the congregation in the new location.
