Voter's Guide: Smithtown School Budget, Board Election
What you need to know for Tuesday's vote.
The proposal calls for a 1.36 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.49 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap.
Five candidates are running for three seats on the Smithtown Board of Education. Incumbent Gladys Waldron is running unopposed. Incumbent Grace Plourde faces a challenge from Michelle Lintelman and incumbent Joanne McEnroy is being challenge by Jill McDowell.
Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Accompsett, Nesconset, Smithtown and St. James elementary schools. For more information on the budget and to determine which polling location you should go to, visit the district's website here.
