At Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl, all dogs are winners.

The event, now in its ninth year, is designed to raise awareness of animals in need and pet adoption. It is broadcast on Animal Planet all-day Super Bowl Sunday, followed by an uptick in adoptions.

Puppies from two nonprofits based on the East End joined in the fun. Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue, in Sagaponack, sent and Last Chance Animal Rescue, in Southampton, sent Nona and Chloe.

SBNation.com captured images of Bessie making a play, leaping over another puppy who ran into her path, and named Masquerade, a Catahoula leopard dog mix, a "breakout." Lenny and Willis were featured in Animal Planet's commercials previewing the event.

Puppy Bowl IX was filmed month ago, and all of these puppies have since been adopted, but both rescues constantly have new puppies and senior dogs coming into their care. Learn about available animals at LCARescue.org

And Animal Planet did not forget cats. The kitten halftime show featured feline gymnastics.
