Former Congresswoman Kelly Supports Oliva for Congress

There will likely be a Republican primary to unseat Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

BREWSTER, NY - Former Congresswoman Sue Kelly has thrown her support to Astorino advisor and Somers resident Phil Oliva in his bid to be the Republican candidate for the 18th Congressional District.

In a prepared statement, Kelly said she researched all the candidates and decided Oliva was the strongest for the job.

“When you hear him speak, it’s quite clear his is very knowledgable and experienced, but he also comes across very well which is important,” Kelly said.

Oliva is not alone in challenging two-term incumbent Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-Cold Spring.

Other Republican candidates include Samika Brown, Dan Castricone, John Lange, Frank Sampinato and Ken Del Vecchio, according to lohud.com.

The 18th Congressional District include Putnam and Orange counties, the southwestern portion of Dutchess County and the northeast corner of Westchester County.
