Vacancies: What Should Become of Former Village Supermarket?

Put aside all the rules and regulations—we're asking you what type of establishment would make the most sense in that spot?

Vacancies: What Should Become of Former Village Supermarket?

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning; a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

We present a vacant space or property and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts most people to sleep. What would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

Our inaugural installment of this column received a couple of great suggestions, as did our  subsequent posts—especially the one about Sciortino's.

Now, we're hoping you'll weigh in on the space on that housed Village Supermarket until very recently. It's located in the same strip of businesses as Portofino's Pizza and Pasta and Tom & Jerry’s.

Patch spoke to the owners last May, shortly after they opened last May. Now, the store is emtpy, and neighboring shops say the supermarket closed earlier this month.

Attempts to reach the landlord, and the family who owned the store, were unsuccessful.

So, Brewster and Southeast folks, what do you think should become of the space?

Please leave your answer in the comments section below. Thanks for participating!
