The following information was supplied by the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Disappointing many optimistic residents this week, a spike in Syosset and Plainview area burglaries broke the trend of low burglary counts.

A total of six burglaries were reported in the neighborhood, including three in Hicksville and one each in Syosset, Plainview, and Bayville.

Despite the Nassau County Police maintain this is still better than this past winter and reports are still expected to be low in coming weeks and months.

, three of them involved window entries rather than door entries, and in four cases, nothing was stolen from the homes.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • April 4: Burglary; Southwood Circle, Syosset; assorted jewelry stolen.
  • April 4: Burglary; Knickerbocker Road, Plainview; basement window entry, nothing stolen.
  • April 8: Burglary; Ingram Drive, Hicksville; jewelry stolen.
  • April 11: Criminal mischief; Denny's Childrenswear, Plainview; spray paint on car.
  • April 12: Grand larceny; Manor Street, Plainview; car stolen.
  • April 13: Burglary; Hunter Lane, Hicksville; window entry, nothing stolen.
  • April 13: Burglary; Cliff Drive, Hicksville; basement window entry, nothing stolen.
  • April 14: Grand larceny; Georgia Drive, Syosset; tires and rims stolen from car.
  • April 14: Criminal mischief; Market Drive, Syosset; damage to undercarriage of car.
  • April 15: Petit larceny; YMCA/Mid Island JCC, Plainview; bathing suit, towels, car keys stolen.
  • April 15: Burglary; Hickory Road, Bayville; nothing stolen, malicious damage
  • April 16: Grand larceny; CVS, Plainview; Mucinex stolen.
  • April 17: Grand larceny; Equinox Fitness, Woodbury; pocketbook, wallet stolen from car.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

  • April 14: Theodore Avgerinos, 49; charged with grand larceny; North Broadway, Jericho.
  • April 15: Jason Critelli, 36; charged with burglary; CVS, Oyster Bay.
  • April 16: Libardo Jiminez, 56; charged with petit larceny; H&Y Market, Hicksville.
