Nassau County announces intensified police patrols around temples and synagogues for Jewish holiday.

Nassau Police: More Patrols For Passover

Nassau County Police will step up patrols around temples and synagogues for Passover, which begins sundown Monday, officials announced.

While police officials said there had been no threat made, County Executive Ed Mangano said vigilance is important.

“All religious leaders should know that the Nassau County Police Department will take any and all threats to public safety seriously as nothing is more important than the safety of our residents,” Mangano said.

The celebration commemorates the Jews' escape from bondage in Egypt, as recorded in Exodus. It is marked with special meals and services.

The holiday continues until April 2.
