Joe Salvatore to Appear at Capatosta Trattoria in Elmsford

The evening's musical program places emphasis on songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Dean Martin.

Joe Salvatore and vocalist Alissa Salvatore (Joe’s niece) will entertain at Capatosta Trattoria in Elmsford on Thursday, April 7, 2016, beginning at 7 p.m.

The evening’s musical program places emphasis on songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Dean Martin; it encompasses cool jazz, blues, R&B, Motown standards and modern pop.

Joe Salvatore plays tenor, alto and soprano saxophone and sings at times during the program accompanied by recorded background music. A native of Abruzzo, Italy, he began his band singing career at the ago of 10 and, in America, was the leader of a band called ‘The Brotherhood.”

No cover charge is imposed at Capatosta Trattoria and the regular dinner menu plus a number of specials will be available on April 7.

Hostess Patricia Pardo said that dinner offerings will include portobello pesto and pork chop Tirolese; calamari tirolese will be an option as an appetizer. Other popular dinner entrees to be served:

  • Lamb chops. With broccoli rabe ($23)
  • Halibut Marechiara. With clams and mussels in marinara sauce ($20.95)
  • Chicken rollatini. Stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto. With red brown sauce and portobello mushrooms ($20.95)
  • Veal osso buco. With portobello mushrooms in barolo wine sauce ($20.95)

Although osso buco and branzino do not appear on the menu, they are usually available on request.

Pardo grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She learned how to play soccer from her three brothers and how to cook from her grandmother, a native of Sulmona, a town in the province of L’Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy. She helped prepare meals for her parents, her brothers, her sister and herself beginning when she was 10.

She arrived in America in 1980 and her first job was working at a restaurant in The Bronx called Marabella, owned by her father and a partner.

Capatosa in Italian means blockhead.
