Editor's Note: The following comes from Third Friday's Fiona Galloway, thanks to her and these kids for this good Thankgiving story!

This past Third Friday was given over to a group of local children, ranging from 4 to 13, who took it upon themselves to raise money for Hurricane Sandy Relief. The event was spearheaded by Town Wide Kid Help, a local group of friends who raise funds or volunteer their time to address a local need.

The children made and distributed posters, recruited their friends to provide musical entertainment and made and sold a variety of handmade offerings including baked goods, jewelry, custom laminated name plaques and glitter tattoos.

The evening’s musical entertainment was provided by some exceptionally talented young people who generously gave their time, including the band “Underage”, vocalist Tess Kaplan (10), bassist Henry Poret (9), guitarist Ben Poret (9) and drummer Liam Dugan (7); a brass trio, Cameron Allen, Max Cover and Gabriel Sherry, all (11) and students and SHMS; and the vocal talents of Julia Sandler of SHHS.

This evening of extraordinary effort raised over $600, which will be split between the Community Opportunity Center and the Red Cross.
