Supervisor-Elect Romaine To Be Sworn in Monday

Brookhaven supervisor-elect Ed Romaine will be sworn in Monday in a ceremony that will be open to the public.

The event is set for 3:30 p.m. at Town Hall in Farmingville. Romaine, who will be the 70th person to serve as supervisor, will deliver a speech with the theme “Moving Brookhaven Forward.”

Romaine, R-Center Moriches, currently serves in the Suffolk County legislature representing the 1st Legislative District. He earned the GOP nomination after former supervisor Mark Lesko stepped down in September to lead Accelerate Long Island.

In November, he defeated his Democratic opponent, Brian Beedenbender, with about 57 percent of the vote.

When he was elected, Romaine – who also ran as the Conservative and Independence candidate – said one of his first priorities would be to help the town recover as quickly as possible from the storm that had ravaged Long Island just a week prior. "Particularly now, in the aftermath of this storm, we need to come together and put Brookhaven on the path to sustainable financial health and help all of our residents rebuild," he said.
