Man Arrested For Assaulting Met Security Guard: Police

The man is accused of cracking a bottle over the head of a Metropolitan Museum security guard over a crooked painting.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An art-lover with an angry side is facing assault charges in connection with an attack on a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Brandon Aebersold, 33, was arrested Wednesday and has been charged with second-degree assault and criminal weapons possession, police told Patch. Aebersold, a resident of the East Village, is accused of hitting a security guard over the head with a bottle following an argument on Friday, March 3, around 6:15 p.m, police said.

Aebersold and the unnamed security guard started arguing after Aebersold complained about a crooked painting in the museum, police said. Apparently Aebersold wasn't pleased with the security guard's response to his complaint so he struck him with the bottle, police told Patch.

Aebersold had paid entry fee to the museum, just like any other museumgoer on a Friday night out, before the assault, police told Patch.

The unidentified victim suffered a laceration to the head and was treated for his injuries at New York Presbyterian Hospital, police said.
