UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A newcomer to the crowded Upper East Side pilates scene is hoping to attract customers with its big-name head trainer who has worked with celebrities such as Madonna, Uma Thurman, Kyra Sedgwick and Claire Danes.
Real Pilates, founded by fitness authority Alycea Ungaro in 1995, is opening its third New York City studio this weekend at 1226 Lexington Ave Lexington Avenue near East 83rd Street, according to a press release.

The studio is opening in the space formerly occupied by Pilates Challenge — and so continues the circle of pilates life on the Upper East Side. Real Pilates will offer private and semi-private training and small group training classes, according to a press release. The studio will also offer a comprehensive 30-week training program.
Real Pilates currently operates two other New York City studios in SoHo and Tribeca, according to a press release.
