Manhole Fire Shuts Down Traffic on Upper West Side Block
Traffic was shut down on Broadway between West 102nd and West 104th streets as the FDNY responded to a manhole fire.

UPPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Traffic on an Upper West Side portion of Broadway was shut down Tuesday morning when billows of thick smoke began pouring out of a manhole on the corner of West 103rd Street and Broadway.
An FDNY spokeswoman told Patch that firefighters were operating on the scene and the smoke was controlled around 11 a.m. The spokeswoman also told Patch that that ConEdison was en route, as the smoke was caused by an electrical fire.
An eyewitness reported that traffic on Broadway between West 102nd and West 104th streets was shut down in both directions during the emergency response.
