Cops Searching for Astoria Savings Bank Robber

Nassau County Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Wantagh bank Thursday morning.

Cops said the unidentified man walked into Astoria Savings Bank, approached a female teller, and handed her a note demanding cash. The teller cooperated and handed over an unknown amount of money before fleeing on foot.

The robbery happened at 11:18 a.m. Thursday.

Seven employees and two customers were present at the time and were unharmed.

The subject is described as a white man, 40-50 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, bald, and had an unshaven face. He was wearing clear lensed glasses, a red/white short sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and blue sneakers during the robbery.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
