County, Town of Hempstead Announce Snow Closures

Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead have announced several closures ahead of the winter storm. 

County Executive Ed Mangano announced the closing of all County park activities to the public starting Thursday. Mangano also announced that visiting hours at the Nassau County Correctional Center are cancelled for Thursday and Friday.  

In the Town of Hempstead, all town parks will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

The Town announced that they will have warming Centers open on Friday at Senior Centers including the Wantagh Senior Center  located at 1150 Seamans Neck Road from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The Seaford Public Library will be closing at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. THe Hagerdon Little Village School in Seaford will also be closed Friday.

The National Weather Service on Wednesday afternoon issued a blizzard  warning, in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Friday, for all of Long Island. Snow accumulation of six to 10 inches is expected.
