Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off
  • Everyone who has grown a pumpkin - no matter what its size - is encouraged to bring it to Hicks Nurseries annual pumpkin weigh off. 
  • In addition to awards for the three heaviest pumpkins, they will also award prizes to the 'Rookie of the Year' and 'Best Pumpkin Grown by A Child' (under the age of 15).
  • Contestants who need to have their pumpkin unloaded must be at the nursery no later than 10 a.m. 
Super Community Blood Drive with American Red Cross
  • MAX Martial Arts & Fitness in Farmingdale is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a super community blood drive on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • All presenting donors will receive one FREE week of fitness or martial arts classes and a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII to be held at MetLife Stadium.

Magic Show
  • The Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church located at 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, presents a MAGIC SHOW performed by John Reid.  
  • The date is Oct. 5, 2013. Doors open at 7 p.m..  Show starts at 7:30 p.m.  There will be raffles and light refreshments (dessert, coffee, tea, juice).  
  • Tickets are $10 for each Adult, $5 for each child. Children three years old and younger are free.
The Dees Nursery and Florist Fall Festival
  • The Dees Annual Fall Festival is back and better then ever. This year we have fun for the whole family. 
  • Our activities include a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatable bounce house, face painting, arts and crafts and tattoos (small fee applies).
  • We also have a huge pumpkin patch for your family to pick the perfect pumpkin. We have fresh Apples, Cider, Fresh Pies and Candy Apples as well as the largest selection of Halloween and Fall decorations for your home.
  • Join us for our Annual Oktoberfestival.  
  • German food and music, baked goods, crafts, children's activities, vendors, attic treasures and our Beer Garden, which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bulldogs Tackling Breast Cancer
  • The Island Trees Varsity Football Team and Booster Club will be hosting their 4th annual "PINK OUT " game. 
  • The purpose of the "PINK OUT " game is to raise money and awareness towards a cure for breast cancer. 
  • The Island Trees Varsity & JV Football and Cheerleading Teams have been participating in The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach the past three seasons.
Muscle Maker Grill's Grand Opening Party
  • Muscle Maker Grill of Merrick is celebrating its Grand Opening!  First 300 guests will receive a T-shirt and there will be separate giveaways for gym towels and water bottles.
  • All wraps will be $5 and all smoothies and protein shakes will be $3.

Indoor Yard Sale at Temple Emanu-El of East Meadow
