Lee Road Students Learn Importance of Bus Safety

Students at Lee Road Elementary School in Wantagh recently participated in bus safety drills during the first week of school.

Levittown School District bus drivers spoke to classes at Lee Road about emergency features on buses and how to safely evacuate in the event of an emergency.

New York State Education Law requires that public schools conduct three bus safety drills each year with the first drill being held within the first week of the school year. The drills instruct students on how to approach, board and exit a school bus, the importance of orderly conduct, emergency procedures, and how to correctly cross the street in front of the bus after disembarking.
