Making the Call on Snow Days
Most area schools closed for the storm. Should the decision be made soon
It was the right call as heavy snow blanketed the area. Throughout the day Thursday, we reported on school closings. Some schools closed hours before the storm arrived, while others waited until the storm got closer.
It can be a tough decision, balancing the uncertainty of weather forecasts against the need to give faculty, staff, students and family as much time as possible to go to school or make arrangements for a day off.
We want to know what you think. Should school officials make these decisions sooner rather than later and risk basing a decision on an inaccurate forecast, or should they wait as late as possible and risk a last minute scramble.
