Seaford Football Stays Unbeaten With Homecoming Win

Vikings improve to 6-0 with 31-7 victory against Cold Spring Harbor Saturday evening.

Saturday’s 37th annual Seaford High School football Homecoming Game against Cold Spring Harbor was extra special for Viking senior running back Nick Fischetti.

In addition to being crowned Homecoming King at halftime, Fischetti scored two key first half touchdowns that helped Seaford roll to a 31-7 win before a crowd of more than 2,000 at the Ray Buckley Field of Dreams. Seaford is now a perfect 6-0 in Nassau County Conference IV with two regular season games remaining.

“The king part is a little icing on the cake but I’m just happy we won,” said Fischetti following his memorable Homecoming game experience. “There is something really special about this team."

Fischetti, who has been battling through an ankle injury in recent weeks, capped a 72-yard opening drive with a two-yard touchdown plunge 4:10 into the first quarter to open Seaford’s scoring. He then answered a tying touchdown by Cold Spring Harbor with a 28-yard scoring run early in the second quarter to make it 14-7 Vikings.

Seaford’s scoring Saturday also included a Pete Adorno touchdown pass to wide receiver Tyler O’Donnell and a scoring run by junior running back Joe Bongiovi. A 22-yard field from kicker Matt Murphy early in the fourth quarter stretched Seaford’s lead to 24-7.

Seaford’s win Saturday against Cold Spring Harbor was far less dramatic than its two previous come-from-behind victories at Roosevelt (13-12) and home against West Hempstead (31-27).

“We’re working hard everyday getting better and better,” Fischetti said. "Our goal is to get back to Hofstra where we belong."

Seaford is next in action this Saturday afternoon at home against Valley Stream North, who ended the Vikings’ run of four straight county titles with a 21-16 upset win in the fist round of last year’s playoffs. Kickoff Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
