Bronx Man Struck, Killed By Mercedes In Inwood: Police
The man was crossing the street at Sherman Avenue and Academy Street when he was struck by the vehicle.

INWOOD, NY — An elderly Bronx man was fatally struck by a car while crossing the street in Inwood last week, police told Patch.
Jose Melogarib, 68, was crossing Sherman Avenue mid-block on Monday, Jan. 23 around 5:45 p.m. when a white Mercedes Benz struck him, police said. The collision occurred in the vicinity of Sherman Avenue and Academy Street, police told Patch.
When officers arrived at the scene they discovered Melogarib suffering from trauma to his nose and body, police said. Melogarib was transported to Harlem Hospital, where he died from his injuries three days later, police told Patch.

The driver of the white Mercedes Benz remained at the scene of the collision and has not been arrested, police said.
