Harlem Woman Driving Without License Kills 50-Year-Old Man in Washington Heights

The woman was driving through Broadway and West 180th Street when she struck a 50-year-old man with her car, killing him, police say.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A woman driving without a license struck and killed a man in Washington Heights last weekend, police told Patch.

Kyara Dejesus, 24, is facing charges for aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vechicle, police said. Dejesus was driving a 2007 Mercedes Benz through the intersection of Broadway and West 180th Street Sunday when she struck 50-year-old Abrehet Hagos with her vehicle, police said.

Responders arrived on the scene around 7:30 p.m. and found Hagos, a Bronx resident, in the road suffering from head and torso injuries, police said. Hagos was transported to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police told Patch.

Dejesus, who lives in Harlem, stayed at the scene of the collision, where she was placed in custody, police said.
