Car Fire Breaks Out On Sunrise Highway: Officials

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Firefighters tackled a blaze that broke out in a car on Sunrise Highway Monday morning, officials said.

According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, the fire broke out at 5:50 a.m. west of the rest stop and was found to involve the vehicle's engine compartment.

A rescue pumper was first at the scene and "crews made quick work, allowing the highway to open shortly after," officials said.

New York State Troopers were also at the scene to provide traffic support, officials said.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.
