Annual Snowball Aims to Raise Funds for Tree Lights

Annual Snowball Aims to Raise Funds for Tree Lights

The Westhampton Alliance of Merchants hopes to raise money to light up Westhampton Beach's Main Street trees year round through its 17th annual Snowball fundraiser, set for Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. at Oceanbleu at the Bath and Tennis Hotel.

Erin Finley, the head of WHAM, said the event will raise money for the project, which she hopes to work on with Westhampton Beach Village and the Westhampton Chamber of Commerce.

"It has to be a group project," Finley said, adding that she would like to see white lights installed on Main Street trees.

Already, Finley said WHAM has reached out to a tree expert, who attested that as long as the lights are changed every three years, there could be no damage to the trees.

Damage to the trees, was a concern of the Village Board when she first approached members of the idea several years ago, Finley said.

Not only will the fundraiser bring in money for the alliance's light and advertising campaigns for Westhampton Beach businesses, but also for the East End Hospice.

"The annual fundraiser for WHAM, provides for a substantial donation to a charitable cause each year," Finley said.

Finley said the celebration will feature hors d’oeuvres, dancing, cash bar, DJ, live music, raffles and silent and Chinese auctions.

Advance Sale tickets are $50 per person and are available at Lynne’s Cards & Gifts, Sydney’s “Taylor” Made Cuisine and Beach Bakery Café.
