On Saturday, High Gear Cycling Studio of Westhampton Beach raised $9,000 for the 100-year-old, non-profit Bideawee, which suffered damage during Hurricane Sandy.

Hearing that Bideawee was in need of hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair its facilities — its Manhattan location flooded — High Gear owner Lynn November spun into action.

She created a fundraising event where participants could take a spin class with one of the studio's professional trainers and in return provide a donation of either money or goods such as pet beds and collars and leashes.

"It was a real feel good event for everyone," said November. "Our trainers were phenomenal along with the rest of the team."

During the event, participants were also treated to a buffet of goods catered by the studio's receptionist, as well as refreshments donated by Hampton Coffee.

"When we drove the goodies over to drop them off at the Westhampton Bideawee location, one of the volunteers said he had never seen a drop off this large before — That’s what this was all about," said November.
