Main Street Halloween Event Changes Venue, Closes to the Public

Annual Westhampton Beach Halloween festivities won't be open to the public.

Main Street Halloween Event Changes Venue, Closes to the Public

For the first time since it started over a decade ago, the Westhampton Chamber of Commerce's annual Halloween parade and trick-or-treating event won't take place on Main Street in Westhampton Beach.

According to Karen McNamara, of the Westhampton Chamber, the chamber has opted out this year, handing the reigns over to the Westhampton Beach School District and the elementary school PTA, which have been working to create a new event specifically for their students.

The chamber will, however, still provide funds for candy for the event, which will take place on Halloween between 3:15 and 5 p.m.

According to Lisa Slover, principal of the Westhampton Beach Elementary School, the new event will feature a parade that will run up Mill, around the traffic circle and back to the school where the students will be greeted by a variety of activities.

Slated activities include a child-friendly haunted house provided by the high school student government, dancing with a DJ, and touch boxes made by Girl Scouts and the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.
