Pickup Truck Bursts Into Flames On Sunrise Highway
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, police say.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A small-pick truck burst into flames on the Sunrise Highway Saturday afternoon, officials said.
According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, the fire broke out at 2:50 p.m.; the truck was located on the shoulder of the westbound lane about a mile west of Exit 64, and was fully involved in flames when the first units arrived.
No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

Volunteers were able to quickly extinguish the fire — and a rain shower at the time helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby brush, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said.
The department responded with two chiefs, two engines, a tanker, and a fire police truck. The East Quogue Fire Department also responded with an engine and a rescue truck. Southampton Town and New York State police were also at the scene.

The westbound lanes of the highway were shut down while the fire was being extinguished, fire officials said.
