February marks National Adopt a Rescue Rabbit month so this week, the is looking to find a home for Rapunzel, a lop-eared rabbit.
According to Donald Bambrick, animal shelter supervisor, rabbits may make good “starter” pets, but they still have the same care requirements as dogs and cats.
He said, "They need food, water, shelter and plenty of love and attention. Rabbits can be litter box trained and should never be kept outside."
All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.
Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.
To adopt Rapunzel or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit them at 102 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays.
