The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

There are now seven West Islip residents who have reported identify theft in relation to banking accounts with Chase Bank.

Back in mid September Patch reported that police were investigating four cases, which occurred between August and September, where a resident's bank account had been illegally accessed and ultimately emptied of funds.

Now three more residents, one living on Paprocki Avenue, one on Country Greens Court and one on Jackson Avenue have reported similar identity theft incidents.

A pedestrian was seriously injured after a vehicle struck him and left the scene on Route 109 in West Babylon early Friday morning.

Suffolk County Police said Corey Hall, 29, of Brentwood, was crossing Route 109 at East Drive at around 12:10 a.m. this morning when he was a struck by a vehicle that immediately left the scene.

Suffolk County Police said a 27-year-old Central Islip man was hit by an SUV Wednesday after fleeing from the nearby Rite Aid store, where he was caught stealing hair products and other items.

After fleeing the Lindenhurst store, he attempted to cross Sunrise Highway when he was hit by an SUV at around 4 p.m.

The man, identified as Douglas Redmond, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for a fractured leg and other non-life-threatening injuries.

Guy Joseph Manzo, of North Babylon, last week plead guilty the Glacier Bank in Kalispell, Montana and could face up to 20 years in prison for the crime,  according to the Associated Press.

Manzo admitted to writing nearly $200,000 in checks from a closed account at Glacier, hoping to pay off credit card bills with the phony money. Manzo said he was supporting his girlfriend, who was battling cancer. He also claimed to be on disability after injuring himself on the job as a plumber.
