7-Year-Old Unemployment Fraud Charge Haunts White Plains Woman

A White Plains woman who was charged in 2005 with illegally obtaining $6,885 in unemployment benefits was arrested in White Plains on a warrant charging that she never showed up in court, according to Port Chester Police.

Brenda McCrae, 40, of 123 E. Post Road, White Plains, was arrested by White Plains Police, who notified Port Chester Police that McCrea was in custody. McCrae, while a Port Chester resident, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny in 2005.

Police said McCrae is accused of collecting unemployment benefits in 2003 and 2004 even though she was employed at a hospital.

McCrae was arraigned in Port Chester Village Court and she was released on $500 bail pending a Jan. 10 hearing.
