The Yorktown Police Department issued an alert this morning at about 10:30 a.m. that a possible sick coyote was seen in the Springhurst Street area.
A resident reported to police to have seen the animal via a residential surveillance system, police said.
"Please note that coyotes, foxes, and various other wildlife are numerous in our area, and unless one is sick or injured no action will be taken," Yorktown police wrote in the alert that was issued to residents.
If you observe an animal you believe to be sick, keep a safe distance, and contact the Yorktown Police Department at 914-962-4141, police advised.
