Bobcat Visitor Caught On Video In Hudson Valley [VIDEOS]

Surveillance video caught the animal twice making its way through the Dutchess County property.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — Home surveillance video is helpful, especially when it comes to seeing if you've been the victim of porch pirates. But a Westchester man who owns a home in Pleasant Valley was surprised to see a four-legged predator while checking a recent video.

Raymond Sturz had seen what he thought was a bobcat on his property a while ago in September, but it wasn't on screen for long, and mainly showed itself walking away from the camera.

But on Sunday, March 17, Sturz was surprised when the bobcat came back for a second, more extended — albeit night vision — appearance.

Sturz said he had seen a large paw print near the house and, through research, found that it was probably a bobcat.

"But in September and then again last night were the first times I caught him on camera," he said.

Sturz said he's not concerned about the critter as long as it stays out of his way and he stays out of his way.

"As we have 25 acres of land, there should be enough room for both of us," Sturz said.
