Driver Found Dead In Pickup May Have Had ‘Medical Incident’: CMPD

A 65-year-old man was found dead in a Chevy pickup, and appeared to have struck a tree and fence. Police are now investigating.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A 65-year-old man found dead in the front seat of a Chevrolet pick-up truck that had struck a tree and fence along Rozzelles Ferry Road in west Charlotte may have suffered a medical incident, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Officers found the single-vehicle accident scene shortly before midnight on May 16 in the parking lot of Can-Am Custom Trucks located at 3009 Rozzelles Ferry Road.

David Allen Jackson, 65, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat and was later pronounced dead by medic at the scene, CMPD said.

Responding officers noted that Jackson’s truck had struck a tree alongside the roadway, and a fence at the business. Neither speed nor alcohol impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the accident, however Jackson was not using a seatbelt, according to the CMPD report.

“It appears the driver may have suffered a medical incident,” the report said.

CMPD has launched an investigation into the crash and asks anyone with information contact detectives at 704-432-2169.
