'Bathroom Bill': N.C. Lawmakers Face 48-Hour NCAA Ultimatum On HB2
Lawmakers have yet to find a compromise. Will this news be the needed carrot?
CHARLOTTE, NC — North Carolina lawmakers have just 48 hours to repeal the contentious House Bill 2 “Bathroom Bill” if it wants to be considered for NCAA games through its 2022 calendar, a sporting official has said.
“I have confirmed with a contact very close to the NCAA that its deadline for HB2 is 48 hours from now,” Scott Dupree, executive director of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, said in a statement March 28. “If HB2 has not been resolved by that time, the NCAA will have no choice but to move forward without the North Carolina bids.
“The NCAA has already delayed the bid review process once and has waited as long as it possibly can, and now it must finalize all championship site selections through spring of 2022,” Dupree added.

The news comes the day after predictions the state will lose almost $4 billion over the course of 12 years due to economic boycotts protesting the law that denies anti-discrimination protections based upon sexual orientation or gender identity.
