Medical Condition Blamed In Mooresville Crash, Driver’s Death

Mooresville police say they think a driver suffered a medical emergency before he ran a red light and crashed into vehicles.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- A Sunday afternoon car accident that left a Mooresville man dead is now believed to be the result of a medical condition, according to Mooresville Police.

The Nov. 19 accident occurred around 5:30 p.m., when Mark Allen Fouts, 60, ran a red light at the intersection of Shinnville Road and Highway 21. Fouts’ vehicle hit another vehicle traveling on Hwy. 21, then hit another that was parked nearby.

Paramedics responded to the scene and found Fouts, who was later pronounced dead, unresponsive.

“The cause of the crash is still under investigation,” MPD said. “However, it is believed Fouts suffered a medical condition which cause the accident and his death.”
