CH-UH Will Soon Offer Tours of Pilot Classrooms

The new rooms, called learning communities, are a preview of the CH-UH facilities master plan.

CH-UH Will Soon Offer Tours of Pilot Classrooms

Some students in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District started the 2012-2013 school year in newly renovated spaces.

As part of the CH-UH Facilities Master Plan, a team of architects created three pilot programs, a $1.65 million project, at Oxford Elementary School, Roxboro Middle School and Cleveland Heights High School.

The district will soon offer weekly or bi-weekly tours of the pilots during school hours, according to a press release from CH-UH:

Oxford Elementary
Tours will begin on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and will be offered every Thursday at the same time. Tours must be booked in advance. RSVP to Barb, office secretary, at 216-320-4951.

Roxboro Middle
Starting Wednesday, Oct. 3, tours will be held from 10-11 a.m. every Wednesday. Tour participants will have an opportunity to view teachers and students in the pilot area. Please RSVP to Mrs. Smith at least one week in advance of the tour at 216-320-3503.

Legacy New Tech at Heights High
In November, tours will be held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month beginning at 9 a.m.  Call the Legacy Office at 216-320-3210 to schedule a tour.

The classrooms, which are a total of 23,400 square feet, are a preview of the work that could be done in district buildings when the facilities master plan or Plan C, approved by a narrow 3-2 school board vote July 3, is funded and finalized.

Parents and residents in the CH-UH School District had the opportunity to check out the Roxboro pilot at the Aug. 21 board meeting, and toured the Legacy pilot before the Sept. 18 board meeting. Follow the links for more information about the pilot programs.
