Cuyahoga Falls Electric System Receives National Recognition

The American Public Power Association had some good news for the city this week.

On Monday, it announced the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System was one of 176 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition, according to the city’s public service director, Valerie Wax Carr.

The award is only given to community- or state-owned electric utility companies that provide customers “with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service,” she said in a prepared statement.

Brent McKinney, chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel, made the announcement during the organization’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held in Cleveland.

“The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate
proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development
and system improvement, said Carr.

Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.”
