, which specializes in traditional Chinese acupressure massage techniques, has relocated from its storefront of four years to the more-convenient Merchants Square shopping plaza on Ghent Road.

Manager Lily Wang said she is pleased with the benefits the new location offers Relax Station clients.

Wang said the business can now set its own hours, providing the flexibility to accommodate both walk-ins and those who need to make appointments outside of normal business hours.

Ample parking is located right outside the door of Relax Station’s second-floor suite – a space Wang has been able to customize to create a more relaxing atmosphere than in the mall.

Bath resident Nancy Trexler, a Relax Station client and spokesperson, said she now lives a nearly pain-free life thanks to acupressure massage – which is not to be confused with acupuncture.

“A common misunderstanding is that people see the word acupressure and mistake it for acupuncture, which involves needles. Acupressure deals with the massage of specific pressure points all over the body,” Trexler explained.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, there are over 800 vital energy points along the meridians (they connect the interior and the exterior of the body) that run from the head down to the heels, especially along either side of the spinal column. Every point has specific therapeutic effects on the related organ. By massaging these points, the corresponding body area receives specific therapeutic treatment.

Trexler, a school teacher, was a longtime victim of up to 14 migraines monthly for which she took both prescription and over-the-counter pain medications and tried a variety of other massage techniques. Then she became a Relax Station client.

“Since I’ve been getting deep-tissue, Chinese acupressure massages that work on the body’s pressure points, I only get one migraine every few months,” she explained. “I went from taking a lot of pain medicine down to basically nothing. Not taking all that medicine has changed my life for the positive. I owe my elimination of pain to the great people at Relax Station.”

Wang said the healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure strengthens the body’s natural resistance and promotes wellness.

Relax Station offers a full complement of traditional Chinese acupressure massage services to its clients, including table massage, chair massage and foot massage therapies. Prices are listed on the company’s website.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Walk-ins are always welcome, and appointments can be made by calling 330-835-9358.
