Bullets Found at Lakewood High School

Superintendent: “There have been no threats made relating the students, staff or school.”

Bullets Found at Lakewood High School

Two unused, .22-caliber bullets were found last week at Lakewood High School.

One of them was found in a hallway while students were in class, and the other in a classroom after school let out on Thursday.

The bullets were turned over to the Lakewood Police Department for investigation.

With the TV stations calling and Twitter buzzing with the news, Superintendent Jeff Patterson released a statement about the incident.

“There have been no threats made relating the students, staff or school,” he said. “Please be assured that the district puts your student's safety as our top priority. We will update you when any significant developments in the investigation occur.”

Police and high school's security director reviewed the security film, but it didn’t immediately turn up any clues.

"But they’re continuing to review the tape," said Christine Gordillo, the spokeswoman for the Lakewood City Schools.

She noted that the students and staff are on "heightened alert," listening to "chatter" and tracking down leads to try to solve the case.

“We are putting a high-priority on keeping our schools safe," she said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police at 216-529-6773.
