Shaker Heights Looking For New Recreation Director

Shaker Heights is in the midst of a search for its newly named Recreation Department.

Pamela Quinn retired from her post as Community Life director at the end of 2012.

Shaker Heights Chief Administrative Officer Jeri Chaikin said the city has been talking to prospects, but did not indicate that officials are close to naming Quinn's replacement.

Until then, Chaikin is handling the recreation director's duties. The city has also advertised the job.

Quinn's departure was announced at the Dec. 17 council meeting. City officials expressed appreciation for her 17 years of service.

"I want to thank you for all of your diligence, hard work, thoughtfulness," Mayor Earl Leiken told Quinn at the meeting. "Your concern about funding, all of the issues and little things that residents have brought to you, I have brought to you, Jeri has brought to you, council members have brought to you that you've constantly responded to quickly and in a positive demeanor.

"Everything you've done, including your upbeat attitude is much appreciated."
