1. Let's start with something pleasant. It is, after all, almost Christmas.

Lake Catholic held its 22nd annual Holiday Fair in which the Cougars entertained the students of Broadmoor School.

The students from both schools played games together, made crafts and enjoyed some holiday sweets.

It made for some pretty adorable pictures.

2. The former Borders bookstore in Mentor has been empty since April 2011 but it will not be unoccupied for much longer.

in the Creekside Common Shopping Plaza near the border of Mentor and Painesville Township.

They will be retrofitting the building and hope to open by the summer of 2013.

3. Now, for some less pleasant news.

A pair of sexual offenders -- one newly minted -- made the news this week.

Erik Wisch is accused of peeking into children's window. Nicholas Sutton was sentenced to jail for molesting a sleeping woman after a house party.

4. In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, Mentor Schools Superintendent Matthew Miller issued a letter to all the parents and guardians of students in his district earlier this week.
