Mentor Schools Receive Excellent Grade From the State

Preliminary reports indicate that the school district has received the grade 'excellent' for the sixth consecutive year

Mentor Schools Receive Excellent Grade From the State

Though the Ohio Department of Education will not release the official report cards for each school district until Wednesday, the Columbus Dispatch has published a database that lists the preliminary grade for every district in the state.

That includes , which received the grade of "excellent" for the sixth consecutive year.

A spokesperson for the district confirmed that its preliminary results indicate it received a ranking of excellent. However, they declined to discuss any details until the report cards were officially released.

In the meantime, the Dispatch said Mentor Schools met all 26 of the state standards, which include results in grade- and subject-specific tests in math, reading and science. It also tracks graduation and attendance rates.

Overall, Mentor Schools received a performance score of 103.8 with 120 being the maximum possible.

Lake County had seven of its nine public school districts receive the grade of excellent. Only Painesville Local and Fairport Harbor Schools fell short.

Of those seven, only Kirtland Schools received a higher performance score than Mentor.
