Sunday in the City Back for Encore This Weekend

It's back! The Sunday in the City event takes place Sunday in Bitzer Park and promises to have twice as many artists as the first event in July.

organizers are hoping you're ready to give their event another go.

The event takes place from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. this Sunday. It's a sort of "encore" to the first Sunday in the City event, which took place July 22 and boasted of about 15 local artists.

You'll see several more artists at this weekend's event after organizers opened it up to crafters, says John Allensworth, art committee chairman with New Work City Foundation, which hosts the event.

"We have double the number of artists that we had last time," Allensworth said. "It'll be a much bigger event."

Also in store are face painters from the , all-day entertainment from musician Mark Loy and a mother-son team that performs nursery rhymes.

New Work City Foundation raises money to create grants for local business to create jobs. The July event benefited and the , which hired Luke Overmire for the new position of teen and family coordinator.

New Work City Foundation will present the YMCA and CKP Heating & Cooling with grant checks about 7:30 p.m. at the North Canton Chamber's Alive After 5 event Sept 12.

Allensworth said he's encouraged by the community's response to the Sunday in the City events, and to New Works City Foundation.

"This whole thing is catching on and people are finding out about us and supporting us and we are just so happy."

In the event of rain, Sunday in the City will take place inside the North Canton YMCA.
