University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center Pharmacist receives Pharmacist of the Year Award

Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists recognizes excellence of Mate Soric, PharmD, BCPS

GEAUGA COUNTY – On April 10, University Hospitals (UH) Geauga Medical Center pharmacist Mate Soric, PharmD, BCPS, was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists at the organization’s annual meeting in Columbus. The award recognizes an Ohio health system pharmacist of high integrity and professional ideals who best exemplifies the profession of health system pharmacy practice.

Soric, a clinical pharmacist and board-certified pharmacotherapist, has practiced at UH Geauga Medical Center for nearly four years. “We are fortunate to have Mate and the many talented pharmacists and technicians on our UH pharmacy team as our health care system and pharmacy practice evolve,” says Jason Glowczewski, PharmD, MBA, Director of Pharmacy, UH Community Hospitals. “Mate is a unique and highly motivated clinical pharmacist who continues to be a positive catalyst for change within UH Geauga Medical Center.”

Soric was instrumental in creating and developing the Pharmacy residency program and Outpatient Pharmacy Clinic at UH Geauga Medical Center. He is also closely involved with the community hospital’s protocol of pharmacists rounding with physicians to maximize each inpatient’s medication management and safety.
